A sixteenth century plague doctor haunts the streets of the modern day seeking vengeance against a demonic force with a sinister connection to a drug dealer and his family.

A horror that explores the consequences of drugs.
Written and directed by Liam Jeanson, ‘Plagued Heart’ is a short horror film that tells the story of a cursed 16th century plague doctor, and his attempt to save a present-day family from the consequences of drug-abuse. The film explores themes of paranormal activity. Liam Jeanson stars as the drug-dealing brother, with Jessica Luna as his drug-induced sister (Jessica). Matthew Jeanson portrays the masked plague doctor. The entire film is predominantly shot in black and white.

The 34-minute film kicks off in suspense with a slow zoom-out of a family photo. A captivating sequence of drug orchestration (of Jessica) shortly follows. Unbeknownst to the brother, Jessica and his mother have subsumed to a demonic force – a consequence of him bringing the drugs (evil) into the family home. On the streets, the brother is haunted by crow-like masked man (the plague doctor). Initially terrified, the brother later learns that the cursed plagued doctor has come to help save the family from a pathological demon. During the quest to save Jessica, we learn of the doctor’s backstory and his pursuit of revenge against the sinister force.

Plagued Heart Short Film
Liam Jeanson has created a gripping horror fueled with suspense and fright throughout. Jeanson’s portrayal as the naïve brother deserves high praise, as does Matthew Jeanson (the plague doctor). A thrilling horror with a principal message. Exploring the evil within drug-dealing, with a paranormal plot, rewards the audience with a frightening caution. Visually, cinematography is exceptional and is wrapped up nicely with a chilling soundtrack and sound effects. Editing, lighting and costume design are equally commendable. Highly recommended.
