It is a story that reveals small and big requests that can be hidden, unnoticed or intentionally deleted – Something essential that we may have passed by – something wishful that is floating through the history in a most peculiar way.

Created by Olli Huttunen, ‘Messages’ is a short animation film that explores the history of human communication in the form of messaging. The film rewards viewers with a poetic 3D computer graphic experience, with music by Adrián Berenguer. The animation utilizes existing stock footage and 3D design technology to convey a story. ‘Messages’ is a poignant watch that highlights the various ways in which society has and does communicate.

The 4-minute film opens with a message in a bottle floating in the ocean. The animation delves into the abundance of communication; with messaging from a by-gone era through to modern technology. The film touches on the extinction of stone engravement to lighthouse beacons, through to poster/billboard advertising, signage and technology/social media. The film consists of a non-linear narrative and focuses on paying homage to our advancing world.
