What was the inspiration behind making this short film?

The film is based off a sketch Ivana Kingston wrote for a comedy show we both performed in. The sketch always had a great audience reaction, it really inspired us to make it into a film. We asked our friend Holly Wyder (who we LOVE) to help us re-write the piece and the rest is history.

Was there any particular challenges you had to go through to make the short film happen?

Making the film was definitely more challenging then we anticipated. From a creating perspective the writing process took multiple edits and re-writes to get the script just right. As far as producing the film goes, it was the first time any of us had ever produced for film so that was a challenge in itself.

How has the short film been received?

We were so fortunate to have our film be selected to screen at some truly amazing film festivals. The feedback from our peers and critics has been really positive. We recently uploaded it into YouTube and the reception from the public has been awesome! It’s been really cool to see the film get a bit of a second life.

Do you have any other projects in the pipeline?

For me personally I have a podcast I host with my best friend Maddie Rose called ‘Creative Confessionals’ which is available on Spotify & iTunes. I’m also working on a one woman virtual play which will be available to stream late this summer. You can follow me on Instagram @ItsKellyTaylor to keep up to date on both projects. Our director, Dennis Nicholson, recently had his feature film, ‘Kitty Mammas’ (which was also produced by Ivana), released on Amazon Prime, and Holly has her own digital art company called ‘Hools Foolish Art’ which you can find on Facebook and Etsy.

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to make their first short film?

Just know that it’s gonna be a long road with bumps along the way. Push through it and remember WHY your doing this, because the creative fulfilment you will get once it’s complete is so much greater then anything you could imagine.
